Make sure you don’t miss these towns in your Vietnam holiday
I will never forget the script line of Gil in “Midnight in Paris” when she said: “This is unbelievable! Look at this! There’s no city like this in the world. There never was”. And somehow it reminds me of Vietnam’s towns which I had passed through. Their unique charm seems not to be able to wash off my mind. And I just want to share all my feelings in this small writing piece, hope someone will find what they need in their big journey.
As you all have already known about Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, this article tries to pick up the other differently (but also) excellent names, to ensure that you will have the best experiences in your Vietnam adventures.
Hoi An
Hoi An wasn’t just a town, it was a tone that either one carries forever in one’s soul or one does not. It was the most beautiful thing in my life. You may be alone, but you will not feel lonely. You got Hoi An as a friend. The sunlight in the hundred-year-old street, with two sides filling with wooden-fronted shop houses, bohemian galleries selling local artwork and laid-back open-air cafes. Evening floating in the Thu Bon river surrounded by beautiful lanterns. The morning in exotic nearby villages. The buildings combine all Chinese, Japanese, and European influences. Lively food markets and all the mouth-watering foods go together with the fun in every shopping session. I remember all of it exactly, and I wanted to see it again…
Mui Ne
From a sleepy fishing village, Mui Ne today has transferred into a beach paradise for all travelers looking for a vibrant getaway being full of ocean breath and all water sport kinds in their Vietnam vacation. Mui Ne offers its adventure lovers a perfect and consistent wind force to do kite-surfing, and also a Vietnam “Sahara” desert for the super-fun sand sliding. You can meet all kinds of resorts, restaurants and shops in Mui Ne. So never miss Mui Ne in your Vietnam list, as nobody can refuse those crystal waters and 9-mile sandbank, exotic red and yellow sand dunes, and those lovely activities.
Da Lat
To be known as a “romance town”, the Vietnamese emperors and French colonials favorite retreat once-in-history, Da Lat never disappoints its admirers. From the moment you set your first footprint into this lovely old town, you will be surrounded by the romantic atmosphere. And it is hard to explain the “lovebird” feeling comes exactly from where. It may be from the cold weather of a highland setting at an altitude of 1,500 meters in the middle of a tropical country. Or it may come from irresistibly charming French architecture found in the town’s central area, where the streets are lined with red-roofed stone buildings. You can have it all here, from lovely churches, markets, winding streets, to the colorful gardens with bunches of different flowers. The surrounding area offers lakes, forests, and waterfalls, perfect for trekking, biking, and rock-climbing.
Nha Trang
Nha Trang is famous, and it deserves its name. As home to some country’s top beaches and dive sites, you know the town will help you get as much vitamin Sea as you want. The town’s six kilometers, crescent-shaped beach is set against a picturesque mountain backdrop. Aside from soft sands, the shoreline offers a pleasant promenade, sculpture parks, and scenic gardens. The delightful Nha Trang, one also offers its admirers variable water sport activities, from scuba diving, hiking, snorkeling to kite surfing. This is a perfect destination for both nature lovers and adventure seekers. The cuisine is noteworthy, and the surrounding sites are worth a visit, for example, seven hundred years Po Nagar Cham Towers.
Can Tho
Mekong Delta is always not “a”, but “the” destination for any traveler who wants to archive the best Vietnam trip. And Can Tho, sitting at the meeting point of several different waterways in the Mekong, is definitely one town that you should pass by for a couple of days. The lovely riverfront of this town is lined with sculpture gardens and some of the region’s best restaurants. The back streets give rise to a few unique temples and a buzzing night market. You can meet here, obviously, the floating markets, plus a short cycling trip outside the town will bring you to beautiful countryside landscapes covered with rice fields.
