Kuang Si Falls is the main reason that makes me find all the way to Laos. The first moment I saw a Kuang Si picture on a random Instagram account, a thought flashes in my mind: “Is this picture real or just another Photoshop creation?”. It is just too beautiful to be real. And actually, it looks even more beautiful and lively in the real life. It is not an over saying that Kuang Si Falls is an exceptional gift of nature given to the region. The waterfall is located 29 kilometers south of Luang Prabang town, and is the largest waterfall in the province, with three tiers leading to a 50-meter drop into spectacular azure pools before flowing downstream. The water is in a perfectly aqua color, which makes diving, swimming, or just staring become a big joyfulness. A picnic at Kuang Si Falls is the first thing you should add to your Laos trip.

Buddha Park

Buddha Park is a super famous destination located in Vientiane, Laos capital. This spiritual city offers visitors more than 200 religious sculptures that tower over 40 meters high, including both Hindu and Buddhist figures. Buddhism and Hinduism are believed to come from the same origin, and after studying both religions, Bunleua Sulilat, the creator of the park, decided to put the Hindu and Buddhist sculptures together to create an innovative spectacle. There is a local eatery and café offering food and drinks to visitors at one end of the park right next to the Mekong River that makes a great spot to chill after all the walking and climbing.

The Dong Hua Sao National Protected Area

The over 20-year-old protected forest park Dong Hua Sao covers around 1100 kilometers, and the lush, verdant evergreens of the forest are all over 40 years old. On your visit to the stunning forest, you may have the chance to meet all kinds of animals and birds, including monkeys, hog deers, peacocks, etc. If you are extremely lucky, you may also see some wild elephants and endangered yellow-cheeked gibbons.

Tham Phu Kham Cave and Blue Lagoon

A scenic ride across an unpaved road through Vang Vieng leads you the enchanting Blue Lagoon and Tham Phu Kham Cave. The cave is a labyrinth of chambers, galleries and crevices filled with stalagmites and stalactites; the air is cold and moist. A feeling of mystery is exuded here, thanks to the shining Buddhist sculpture being the only thing in the cave. At the bottom of the track to the cave is the Blue Lagoon, a beautiful pool with crystal clear waters. The cold turquoise waters provide a chance to cool down and wash of the cave’s dust.
