Trip Type: Couple’s journey across Vietnam – a roundtrip with 10 locations in 18 days

We booked our Vietnam trip through Asia Pioneer Travel, and we couldn’t have been more satisfied. From our arrival in Hanoi on July 14 to our departure from Da Nang on July 31, every part of the journey was seamlessly organized, with personal follow-up and high quality throughout.

Planning & Logistics
Each part of the trip was well planned: transportation, accommodation, guides, and activities. We were always met by punctual and friendly guides with a driver, traveled in comfortable private cars, stayed in quality 4★ hotels in great locations, and experienced a lot without ever feeling stressed or rushed. We especially appreciated that the itinerary was flexible and could be adjusted along the way, which was particularly important in the heat.

Traveling in July meant heat and humidity, but the itinerary gave us time to rest and adapt.

Highlights
Highlights included exploring the colorful markets of Hanoi, the spectacular views from the mountaintop at Fansipan in Sapa, a peaceful overnight cruise in Bai Tu Long Bay, walking the lantern-lit streets of Hoi An, and the unique experience of seeing Ho Chi Minh City from the seat of a vintage Vespa (an experience not to be missed). These activities gave us a genuine sense of Vietnam’s diversity and culture. We also appreciated visits to local temples and vibrant street markets, which added to the cultural depth of the trip.

Food Experience
Many of the meals were included and coordinated in a way that gave us the opportunity to try a wide range of delicious Vietnamese food. The two street food tours were especially positive experiences – both flavorful and social.

Personal Support
Rachel from Asia Pioneer Travel stayed in close contact with us on WhatsApp throughout the journey and was always available. She made adjustments along the way based on our preferences, including meals, pace, and small details that made a big difference. All the guides we met were consistently professional, friendly, and knowledgeable, adding depth and local insight to every destination.

Overall Impressions
There are surely cheaper alternatives, but for us it was worth paying a bit more for the safety, local expertise, excellent service, and the consistently high quality of both the hotels and transportation throughout the journey. We felt well taken care of throughout the trip and are left with lasting memories from all parts of the country, from north to south, with great and very different locations.

This is a note just to record our appreciation for Asia Pioneer and more particularly Cherry’s excellent, kind and professional guidance we received from her on our family trip to Vietnam and Cambodia. Cherry was excellent from the ‘get-go’ communicating and assisting us with our trip long before we even arrived in Hanoi. ‘You’ are always nervous when travelling to the ‘unknown’. Cherry immediately established trust and advised us on visas, luggage, hotels and our itinerary, amongst many other little bits and pieces of information. The brochure we received from Asia Pioneer was spot on. We travelled from Hanoi to Sa Pa back to Hanoi to Ha Long Bay to Hue and then on to Hue, Hoi An and Danang. Then to Cambodia – Siem Reap and back to Ho Chi Minh City. We experienced the sights sounds and the beautiful people of Vietnam. We travelled in amazement, and we were never disappointed. Our guides and drivers employed by Asia Pioneer were fantastic, and you felt safe in the tour busses with the excellent drivers who were never late, always on time and who drove expertly in traffic that is mind-boggling at times with all the ‘millions’ of scooters. The guides were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and incredibly proud and patriotic about their Country and its history. Nothing was too much effort for everyone who looked after us. The hotels were excellent in Hanoi, Sa Pa, Hue, Hoi An, Siem Reap and Ho Chi Minh City. I am so glad I found Asia Pioneer Travel. My agent, Stella, was an absolute dream to work with. She patiently answered my many questions over many emails and was very well informed about the countries I wanted to visit, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. She created a detailed itinerary and explained the costs covered by the tour and those not covered, so I was well prepared. She was also very helpful in questions regarding visas and other documentation needed for each county. She provided tips about each countries’ customs, money, social norms, etc., and she was there if I ever needed her during the trip.

The trip itself was one of a lifetime. We spent three weeks in SE Asia seeing the most amazing sites (temples, parks, markets, palaces, etc.), having amazing boat rides, and staying in fantastic hotels. She tailored the itinerary to what I was looking for, culture, food, nature and exploration, and she kept within my budget. She arranged a private tour for us, and the tour guides and drivers she setup for us were top notch, so we did not have to worry about the language barrier, and we always felt safe. They took very good care of us. They even made sure we had cold washcloths and cold water after returning to the van from each excursion so we could stay cool and comfortable. The guides were also very flexible in switching up the itinerary if we wanted to do something else or if we wanted to do nothing at all.

I was super pleased with this company, with sweet and wonderful Stella, and with all of the tour guides and drivers. Thank you Stella for all you did. You and Asia Pioneer are the greatest!
