Hoi An – Local Villages – Walking Ancient Town – Local Food Tour Discovery

Morning

After breakfast, your guide will pick you up from your hotel for a leisurely cycling adventure through the Hoi An countryside. Begin with a short bicycle competency check to ensure safety. For guests who prefer not to cycle, a private vehicle can be arranged at an additional cost.

Cycle along peaceful country roads, passing scenes of daily rural life—rice paddies, water buffalo grazing, and farmers tending their crops using traditional methods passed down through generations. Glide through palm forests, cross rustic wooden bridges, and breathe in the calm of the surrounding nature.

Take a refreshing break with a local family in Cam Thanh Village, where you’ll embark on a 1.5-hour ride in a traditional basket boat through the tranquil Water Coconut Palm Forest. Learn how to paddle these unique round boats and try your hand at catching small fish or “purple crabs” in the narrow canals.

Continue cycling to Tra Que Organic Vegetable Village, famous for supplying fresh herbs and vegetables to Hoi An’s markets. Here, you’ll be introduced to centuries-old, eco-friendly farming techniques still used today by the villagers. Try your hand at some of the gardening methods before heading to a local family home to enjoy a herbal foot soak and massage, the perfect way to refresh after your morning adventure.

Cycle back to your hotel and enjoy some downtime before your guided afternoon exploration.

Afternoon

In the afternoon, meet your guide again and begin a walking tour through Hoi An Ancient Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site rich in history and architectural charm. Visit notable landmarks such as Chua Ong Pagoda, the Tan Ky Ancient House, the Fujian Assembly Hall, and the iconic Japanese Covered Bridge.

Your cultural journey continues with a visit to the Precious Heritage Museum, which houses French photographer Réhahn’s stunning portraits and traditional costumes representing Vietnam’s 54 ethnic minority groups. The collection offers a deep and respectful insight into the country’s diverse cultural fabric.

Next, step into serenity at the Reaching Out Tea House, a peaceful haven run by deaf and mute staff. Sip on exquisite Vietnamese teas and nibble on delicate homemade treats, served with grace in a beautifully quiet setting—a truly moving and memorable experience.

As the sun begins to set, it’s time to dive into Hoi An’s lively street food scene. With your guide, weave through small alleys and bustling markets, tasting your way through authentic local specialties. Sample dishes like Cao Lau noodles, Banh Mi, grilled pork skewers, and more from local stalls you’d never find on your own. Learn about the ingredients, the stories behind the dishes, and how locals use the endless array of condiments in true Hoi An style.

As you explore the site, you’ll discover the majestic ruins of over 70 ancient structures, including intricately carved red brick towers and sanctuaries, many of which still retain their spiritual essence despite centuries of weathering and war. Your guide will share fascinating stories about Champa history, culture, and the architectural ingenuity that makes My Son one of Southeast Asia’s most important archaeological sites.
