I can’t recommend Asia Pioneer Travel enough. Lizzie’s attention to detail, listening to needs and swift responses really made the whole trip amazing for us. My husband and I wanted a smooth and guided experience in Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand – this is exactly what we got.

Our 11 day tour was beautifully managed from start to finish, everyone involved went above and beyond. It was a whirlwind flurry of travel to see three countries in 10 days … we never could have done it without Asia Pioneer Travel. The hotels they chose were perfect and in ideal locations. We particularly liked the Hari in Siem Riep, Cambodia. Each guide and driver was kind, patient, on time, accommodating and professional.

My husband and I fall into the category of “high maintenance” … somewhat nervous travelers and needing to know every aspect of timing, schedule, vehicles, walking distances, weather, food, lodging beforehand. Lizzie was on it every time – no detail was too small for her to research and find the answer for. We even changed the itinerary a few days before (decided not to go on the Ha Long Bay cruise) and she managed it no problem.

There were lots of special requests while we were there (later pickup time, take us to a drugstore, can you take us to church, can you book a show for us tonight, we want to see the Hanoi Hilton unexpectedly) and the guides were accommodating every time.

I can’t tell you how amazing it was to have a private tour guide through Cambodian temples and then a black SUV meet you after touring Angkor Wat for 3 hours and offer you cold towels, water and snacks. Or have a private guide leading you through the Bangkok Royal Palace and then find a private water taxi for you. It was like a secret back door of travel opened up and made the experience seamless and effortless.

The price for everything was reasonable and worth every penny.

We will always use Asia Pioneer Travel to arrange our experiences in this part of the world. Highly recommend!!!

Lizzie at Asia Pioneer Travel organised a very informative and enjoyable tour of Hanoi and Ha Long Bay for our family of 6 people (6 days – 5 nights). After our family group tour, just myself and my wife extended our tour of Vietnam, with Lizzie’s help, to include Hoi An for 5 nights.

All the fine details that made us feel comfortable were well covered in very aspect – this was so important because there were a lot of transfers (Airports – Hotels – Cruise Boat), and making all aspects of our tour to click like clock work.

Lizzie’s selection of hotel accommodation in Hanoi and Hoi An was excellent, and the guides too were excellent. Lizzie made sure that there were English speaking guides for small things like Airport Pick up – this was important because, generally, the drivers did not speak English.

Hanoi City Tour and Evening Foodie Tour was a highlight. Our guide Tommie – we nick named Tom Cruise, did a superb job in explaining the history and culture of Vietnam – this was so important, particularly to our two grand daughters (teenagers) because their learning about other cultures was a major purpose of our tour.

Because of language barriers, touring Vietnam is not easy for Westerners. Having Asia Pioneer Travel attending to all aspects of our tour of Vietnam was the most sensible thing to do.

We were two couples who had never traveled to Southeast Asia before and wanted to see as much as we could on this once-in-a-lifetime trip. We didn’t want a large group, rather, we wanted a private tour where we could arrange to see and do what we wanted…and to be able to relax and enjoy the surroundings when we wanted…like having a relaxing day at a beach resort one day in the middle of our trip.
Lam Duong of Asia Pioneer Travel was our travel specialist who orchestrated our 3 week trip to Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia based on our interests. He made suggestions to see and do beyond what we identified as “must see” which turned out to be excellent and fit perfectly into our tour. The local guides he arranged at the various locals were exceptional – attentive, accommodating, considerate, on time, fun, understandable, flexible and informative. We couldn’t have been more pleased with what he and the local guides had arranged for us. The local guides went out of their way to share their unique stories, history and personal insights which added a level of interest and understanding one can only get on a private tour like Pioneer provides. We were particularly pleased with the short sideline stops the various guides arranged which weren’t on the itinerary that gave us the opportunity to experience the life, background and talents of the locals in that part of the world.
As a result of our experience, we would highly recommend such a tour arranged by Lam and the staff at Pioneer….you won’t regret it.

Lizzie organised our trip very professionally by listening to our every need/suggestion. We were 6 and had a wonderful time. Our guides were lovely, knowledgeable and funny, always on time, attentive and also answered our questions. Hotels were fine! Everything went according to plan, even the weather! We are very thankful for everything and will recommend Lizzie and Asia Pioneer Travel to family and friends.

Lizzie with Asia Pioneer was a top notch planner. She had so many great, off the beaten path ideas, and if there was a hiccup on our tour through Vietnam/Cambodia, she responded to our message immediately and had it fixed.

Some of the tour guides we had on our experience were better than others, and I imagine this is more by personal preference than anything else. Be sure to be clear with Lizzie upfront the type of travel guide you would like for each tour or excursion. She will take care of it for you!

Asia Pioneer arranged the most magnificent, dreamy, once-in-a-lifetime trip, and I HIGHLY recommend them to anyone looking for a spectacular, worry-free vacation! Having never been to Vietnam, trying to plan the trip by myself was overwhelming. There was way too much to see, I didn’t know the language, and I had no idea where we should go/what we should see. On the recommendation of a friend, I contacted Asia Pioneer. I gave Elly, our Travel Designer, a very broad idea of what we were looking for, and she took it from there. She planned meals, activities, guides, hotels, and in-country flights. She made sure she knew what I was looking for, and if I had any questions or concerns, she was responsive and quick to adapt the itinerary based on my needs. She did ALL the heavy-lifting, but I really felt like I had a say in everything. She gave me numerous options when I asked to see more. The planning process could not have gone more smoothly.

The actual trip was AMAZING! Everything went according to plan. Our hotels were perfect, the meals were delicious, and the tour guides were kind, professional, and knowledgeable. We had the very best time, with zero stress. I cannot rate/recommend Asia Pioneer highly enough. I wish they planned trips to ALL the countries!!!
