I cannot thank this company, and specifically the wonderful Sally Thai, enough for making our trip through Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia so special and memorable. From the moment we sent a general enquiry of what we were thinking about doing to being dropped off at our final destination the communication and organisation has been exceptional. All of the arrangements (flights, hotels, guides, drivers, sites etc.) were in place and all of the various teams and people who supported us on our journey were welcoming, engaging, informed and flexible. Although Sally stayed in regular contact it was out of courtesy rather than necessity and we never had any occasion to seek her help or assistance to fix anything. Accepting we weren’t restricted to a low budget I don’t know how this would compare from a cost perspective, to us it doesn’t matter now as we have had the most amazing time and memories that will last forever thanks to this company and their people. Finally we need to mention the virus, we took the right precautions and didn’t let what we considered to be an acceptable risk take over what we did so we carried on. We had the advantage of seeing the major sites without the crowds although clearly the vibrancy and experience of the nightlife and markets were somewhat diminished. The countries are “open for business” and with visible signs of the recommended precautions, e.g hand cleaner, readily available at sites and restaurants we were able to continue almost as if we were anywhere else in the world.

We booked our Itinerary with Hien Pham. She was great to work with and made our trip stress free. Pretty much everything we did was as described. We toured Hanoi, Halong Bay, Hoi An and Siem Reap.

The tour guides were great with the kids and flexible with good English skills, I highly recommend using Sea Life Cruises in Halong Bay and the only thing that I would have done differently would have been to add one more night on the cruise in Halong Bay.

Vietnam is a beautiful country and the people were very friendly, We enjoyed Cambodia as well, particularly our temples excursion to Angkor Wat,

Asia Pioneers is the way to go if visiting this area and you want someone else to do all the legwork I’m planning for you. I can’t say enough good things about them and Hien Pham!

We wanted a hassle-free vacation for our 25th anniversary. After doing our research and comparing our options, we chose Asia Pioneer. Sally with IP was very helpful in getting what we wanted. The trip was absolutely hassle-free from the moment we landed to the time we were dropped off at the airport. All the selected accommodations (all 4 stars) were perfect. We wouldn’t have changed a thing. The tour guides in Bangkok and Chiang Mai were great and very helpful. We would definitely choose Asia Pioneer again for our next Asian adventure.

Having returned from our tour of Vietnam, which was organised by Miss Elly Do, we cannot thank her and her company enough for making the eleven days in Vietnam exceptional. From the first contact with Elly she was flexible and accommodating to making our tour really special and unique to us. The accommodation that she found in the following cities, Hanoi, Hoi An, Hue and Ho Chi Minh City was beyond excellent. Special note must be made of the Eldora Hotel in Hue, which was above and beyond our expectations.
The tour guides that Elly used for our tour were knowledgeable and adaptable to situations out of their control caused by the Coronavirus. Special thanks to Sunny, our Hanoi guide, who found alternative attractions due to government closures of many popular attractions which did not detract from the highlights of the city. Thanks also to Tran, our Hoi An guide, who made our trip both entertaining and exciting. Thanks also to Cam who’s knowledge of Hue was exceptional and last but not least Jason, our guide in HCMC, his knowledge of the Cu Chi tunnels was outstanding.
The food tour with the XOtours in HCMC is a must for anyone visiting the city. It gives another understanding of the chaos that is driving in HCMC on the back of a scooter, though we did feel safe because of the experienced female drivers, who were friendly and spoke excellent English.
We would, without reservation, recommend Asia Pioneer to anybody planning a tour of Vietnam who does not want to follow a standard package tour but rather a tour that incorporates your specific interests and needs, from planning through to the experience as a whole.
We are now presented with the problem of topping this trip, however, if we decide to visit any other place in SouthEast Asia we will definitely be using this company’s services.

We, 2 couples, returned from our 18-day private tour just before the Christmas holiday. To say that everything went perfectly would be an understatement. While we had a bit of difficulty getting Kata from Asia Pioneers to respond to our planning requests, we ended up with what was truly a trip of a lifetime!! All of our tour guides and drivers were truly exceptional. I wanted to give some extra kudos Juan in Luang Prabang and Chesda in Phnom Penh – both were outstanding thoughtful guides. I should mention the others, as each guide was great – Larry in HCMC, Tuan in Hoi An and Hue, Tony in Hanoi and Chai in Siem Reap. All of the hotels we stayed at were top notch. All flights organized by Asia Pioneer went smoothly. As for the sights and sounds of Southeast Asia – this was truly a life-changing visit. While our itinerary was quite clear as to the activities we would see, we had no idea how extraordinary everything would be. We especially enjoyed our exploration of the various street foods in Hanoi that Tony took us to. While “his” places deviated from the itinerary, they were absolutely fantastic!! Our one night on Halong Bay went by too quickly. We spent 4 nights in Luang Prabang, Laos and found this to be just magical. Siem Reap was just amazing. While Angkor Wat is on everyone’s bucket list, we found that each of the ancient temples was equally magnificent. Although the trip ended on a bit solemn note in Phnom Phen with a visit to the Killing Fields and the accompanying prison, Chesda added a little trip to the market and lunch which, for me, softened things some. Overall, this trip was awesome. The only problem now is finding our next trip – this one’s going to be very difficult to top!! I highly recommend Asia Pioneer to help you plan your own trip to Southeast Asia.

My husband and I recently returned from a most amazing 16 day tour of Vietnam and Thailand. Thank you Kata Tran for compiling an itinerary which was the perfect balance of sightseeing, activity, and beach relaxation. There are too many highlights to detail. Know, however, each transfer between destinations was seamless and accommodations were fabulous at each stop. Most remarkable…it never ceased to amaze us that each driver/guide could be so punctual (considering the traffic in some regions), never being even a minute late! The whole Indochina team who contributed to our trip was incredible!

My husband and I just returned from a 3-week vacation in Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand all booked through Asia Pioneer. We would highly recommend using this company to book a trip like this. The accommodations we were given were excellent. Our guides were knowledgeable, open and accommodating making our experience more than we could have hoped for. We were able to customize the trip to suit our likes. Lots of beach time! Our communication with our Indochina rep wasn’t the best but was well made up for in the holiday that was created for us.
